Anyone know how to convert an HD-DVD to regular DVD? Since I don't have a HD-DVD player but do happen to have an HD-DVD disc.

you need a hd-dvd player to rip the files to your hd before you can convert them to regular dvd. Its the same as putting a rented dvd in a cd player.....wont work if you only have a regular dvd player/recorder

just came back from rogers video and blockbuster and rented my first blue ray movie. The displays in both stores are really small (5 columns * 10 rows) and HD-DVD is (3 columns * 6 rows) . The old beta vs vhs wars all over again, but its clear to me blue ray will be the winner. If your not sure get a LG dual format player for $1300 :)

yes it's beta vs vhs again. quality didn't win out there, either; so don't be too sure about your blue ray

I was on bluray's side from the beginning, mostly for the fact that storing 27 gigs is a lot more impressive than the 15gig HD-DVD. That and I don't really see people jumping on the bandwagon of a "Beefed up" dvd like the HD-DVD is, only difference is the color of the laser which burns at a smaller size to allow more data than standard dvd. At least bluray is kind of a new technology but I'll wait for whatever comes out after these 2 formats :D
I haven't seen any HD or BR displays in either blockbuster or rogers, then again I rarely go to either store since there hasn't been fuck all worth renting in a long time.
