I can't get my kid's monitor to shut down.
In properties, screensaver, monitor power, power schemes, turn off monitor............
I've changed it, but nothing happens.... Running XP Pro. Computer may be 5 years old......somewhere around there.
any takers????

They don't shut down, far as I know. Power button works for me :idunno:
& p.s. the setting you describe is the power save settings. it shuts down after a period of time of inactivity

I think he means after there hasn't been any movement for awhile. Instead of going to screensaver mode it just goes to sleep and turns itself off. Never heard of it not working, don't know what could be causing that tin.

I had that happen to mine once. Try different time settings. On mine, the only one that worked was the 10 minute time setting. All the other times were there, but did not work.

Ah, I C. Yeah well that's the beauty of M$. Sometimes it stops working for no good reason.
I have a brand new laptop (OK, getting a few mths old now) that the screensaver can't be turned off, despite repeated attempts. < kix it >
SO like I said.. he can always resort to the Power off & on button.

Bingo...that's it.
I had first changed it to an hour, then half hour.
The kid changed it to ten minutes & I saw it off. He did it himself after I asked him...
Good lad.:yeah::yeah::yeah:
He's had it going 24/7 for years.

But what made it so I couldn't shut it down at 1/2 hour or an hour.....Maybe super sensative optical mouse...kept regenerating movement?

and it does.......the only perfect system in the universe is gloobloob's smac
No one really knows what causes it to happen, the only theory there is , is that if it is set for a longer period of time..
It becomes non-responsive and just will not do anything..
Shorter time periods are very effective!!!!
